Separately, they’ve clocked up some impressive chart stats across their respective careers, but from late August this year, they’ll come together to perform four very special dates as part of an East Coast tour of Australia.
1927 burst onto the scene more than two decades ago with their top ten debut single ‘That’s When I Think Of You’.
Over the ensuing few years, they’d notch up more top 20 chart success, the biggest of which was their second single ‘If I Could’, which peaked at No.2.
US duo The Rembrants exploded onto radio stations back in 1990 with their debut single ‘Just The Way It Is, Baby’. It hit the top 30 here in Australia, but it would be with their later single ‘I’ll Be There For You’ that they’ll best be remembered. As the theme song for the TV smash ‘Friends’, the song was a global monster, peaking inside the Australian top five back in 1995.
Now both bands are coming together for a quartet of East Coast live shows on the ‘Generation i’ tour. Both bands will hit Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, but will also play a date at Waves in Wollongong.
Tickets for all shows are on sale on Tuesday June 19.
