We probably can’t quite convey the depth of love we have for the image above. Suffice to say we’ve made it as big as possible so that you can enjoy it almost as much as we do.
So we haven’t really heard much about New Zealand songstress Ruby Frost here in Australia yet, but trust us when we say that the powers that be are about to ensure you do, with a big local push expected for her recent single ‘Water To Ice’ real soon.
After winning MTV New Zealand’s talent competition ’42 Unheard’, the songstress signed to Universal Music and was subsequently whisked off to New York and Los Angeles for a series of high profile showcase performances.
Back home in New Zealand, meanwhile, the release of her debut EP for Universal saw Ruby hit the No.3 position on the New Zealand albums chart and since then, she’s gone on to work with US producer Chris Zane (who’s previously worked on projects for Passion Pit and Mumford & Sons, among many others) on music that will form part of her debut album, due next year.
One such track is the lead Aussie single ‘Water To Ice’ – a gleaming indie-pop nugget with a shimmering clip to match that impresses from the opening stanzas. It’s infinitely likeable and far better than the current slew of pre-fabricated dance/pop choking the charts.
We don’t quite know what they’re putting in the water to create these amazing pop goddesses over there in New Zealand these days, but Ms Ruby Frost is about to turn said water to ice. So prepare yourself Australia… ‘Cause it seems things are about to get ‘Frosty’…
