Following on from last year’s highly successful inaugural ‘She Can DJ’ competition, in which EMI signed not just the winner, but the runner-up of the search for the hottest female DJ in the country, comes the second round, with the ten finalists announced over the weekend.
They are;
L-R BACK ROW : Cassette, Dusk, Elly K, Alley Oop and Hannah Parker.
L-R FRONT ROW : Girl Audio, NatNoiz, Leah Mencel, Juliet Fox and Fingertips.
EMI’s Scott Horscroft is full of praise for the finalists.
“Having seen the incredible DJ and production journeys that last years’ winner Minx and key signing Alison Wonderland have already embarked upon, the level of DJ producer talent and spectrum of genres represented here in the 2012 finalists is really exciting. As part of their development program we had them all at 301 Studios making music together, and frankly the process made us want to sign every last one!”
Half of the top ten field hails from Sydney, there are two finalists from Melbourne, two from Adelaide and one from Brisbane. The top ten will enter weeks of intense competition to try and prove their worth in front of the critics, with the eventual winner being announced on Wednesday September 05 at a star-studded event at The Ivy in Sydney.
The winner receives not only a contract with EMI, but also a weekly mix on Austereo’s ‘Party People’ and a trip of a lifetime.
