He’s quite possibly Australia’s most celebrated singer songwriter, and with his last studio album now five long years ago, there’ll be much excitement across the country tonight with the announcement of the new Paul Kelly album ‘Spring And Fall’.
Following on from some retrospective collections, the new LP, to be released next month, serves as Paul’s self-challenge to make an album that people will want to listen to from start to finish.
“Noticing that people are listening to music more and more now in a grazing kind of way – picking a song here and a song there – spurred me on to try and make a record that would take a stand on behalf of the ALBUM,” he said in a statement. “I’m a music grazer with the best of them but there is still a deep satisfaction in encountering a set of songs that unfolds from start to finish and demands to be heard in its entirety.”
Guest vocal collaborations on the new LP come courtesy of both Laura Jean and Vika and Linda Bull. Paul’s nephew Dan Kelly and J Walker also worked on the recording, which was completed in a country hall.
‘Spring And Fall’ will be released on Friday October 19.

I got excited because I thought you were talking about Kelly Rowland by the headline at first…
