Pop diva Mariah Carey will visit Australia for two live shows early in the new year.
The singer, whose catalogue of hits spans the past 22 years, hasn’t visited Australia for live shows in 15 years, but she’ll touch down early in 2013 for exclusive dates in Sydney and on the Gold Coast.
She’ll kick off the new year in style at Jupiter’s on The Gold Coast on January 01, before trekking down to Sydney for a show at Allphones Arena on January 03. It’s understood that no other shows are planned as part of this visit.
Tickets will hit the sales desk on Thursday November 22.
January 01 : Gold Coast (Jupiter’s)
January 03 : Sydney (Allphones Arena)

Was SO excited to read this on her Facebook page, then realised it’s only two shows and nowhere near me in lil Adelaide. Wish she’d come for a full tour since it has been 15 long years since she was last here.

What a butthole.

The Gold Coast venue is tiny, so given the limited dates, demand should be high (from memory, Mariah only managed to sell 7000 of the 12000 tickets available in Brisbane last time she toured, and she was much bigger then). I saw Janet Jackson in the same venue this time last year and she was great (as was the venue).

That’s ridiculous. Why come all the way to Australia for two shows?!
I’m not the Mariah fan I was 20 years ago, but I’d still pay to see her in concert if I didn’t have to fly to the other side of the country…
