British songstress Adele conquered the world with her 2011 album ’21’. Audiences all across the planet fell in love with the tales of love, the sweeping production… and that voice.
Already with more than 24 million copies sold around the world, including a now 14 times platinum accreditation here in Australia (that’s 980,000 copies), the album is still inside the ARIA top 40 this week almost two years on from its release.
Now comes news from Remote Control Records that Adele’s latest single ‘Skyfall’ – the theme song to the forthcoming James Bond flick of the same name – has been officially certified gold in Australia, for sales of more than 35,000 copies.
Adele says of the track, “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I’m sure!”
The new Bond movie ‘Skyfall’ opens in cinemas nationally next Thursday.
