Some of Australia’s best and brightest artists will come together in Sydney next month for a very special one-off show at the city’s Annandale Hotel.
The event is in celebration of the 15 year anniversary of Aussie independent Ivy League Records – home to the likes of Lanie Lane, The Rubens, Josh Pyke, Alpine, Sparkadia and more. In fact, those very artists are among a slew of homegrown talent who’ll each perform a 15 minute set on the night.
Looking back on the milestone, Ivy League founder Andy Cassell recollected fondly on the early days.
“We started the label in a pokey office on King St Newtown across the road from the Marlborough Hotel,” he said. “The rent was $50 per week and we shared one mobile phone between the three of us that was the size of a packet of Scotch Finger biscuits. We also shared the one email address and a thermal fax machine, which we bought from Cash Converters.”
How times have changed…
So who’s on the bill for this show on December 12? Well there’s the likes of 78 Saab, Youth Group, Josh Pyke, The City Lights, The Vines, Snobscrilla, Sparkadia, Cabins, Cloud Control, Catcall, Alpine, Lanie Lane, Deep Sea Arcade, SURES and many more.
Tickets hit the sales desk on Monday.
