As always, it’s the winners who are grinners – and this year’s MTV European Music Awards were certainly no exception, with a roll call of superstars hitting Dusseldorf in Germany over the weekend for the 2012 edition.
Performances on the night came courtesy of the likes of Fun., Carly Rae Jepsen, Rita Ora, The Killers, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys and South Korean chart star Psy, who made his global awards show debut.
It was the latter who picked up the coveted gong for ‘Video Of The Year’ for his international smash ‘Gangnam Style’.
Justin Bieber picked up three gongs (for Best Male, Best Pop Act and Best World Stage), while Taylor Swift picked up the awards for Best Female and Best Live Act.
The late Whitney Houston was named global icon.
But sadly for Gotye, he was beaten out in the ‘Best Worldwide Act’ category by former Korean boyband star Han Geng.
Here are some of the categories from the night (with winners in italics);
