She smashed sales records two years ago with her then album ‘Speak Now’, but country starlet Taylor Swift has done it all over again, bettering even her 2010 first week sales with her new album ‘Red’.
The new album debuted at No.1 on this week’s US charts after selling a staggering 1.208 million copies in its first week – the highest weekly sales in more than a decade.
Taylor becomes the only female artist since sales data tracking began 21 years ago to hit one million first week sales twice. And ‘Red’ is one of only 18 albums in history to sell more than one million copies in a week.
Even more impressive is the fact that Taylor’s album sold more copies in the US this past week than the rest of the top 50 combined – a truly astonishing result.
Taylor will hit Australia later this month for a promotional visit and to perform at this year’s ARIA Awards.

it’s a brilliant album. and not the kind of crap that Rihanna, pink etc are putting out these days, it’s songs you can actually sing along to and hear on the radio without bleeps or swear words.
