Channel 7’s ratings juggernaut ‘The X Factor’ is all over for another year and once again served up plenty of laughs, plenty of entertainment and a complete surprise, as boyband The Collective, at times favoured to take out the competition, was bundled out of the race in position No.3.
That left Samantha Jade and Jason Owen still standing in the competition, with Samantha being crowned the ultimate winner. She wins a recording contract with Sony Music Australia and will release her debut single shortly.
Earlier in the show, competition underdog Jason sailed into the top two on the back of the public vote along with pop starlet Samantha, leaving The Collective as this year’s third place getters. Jason, Samantha and The Collective had earlier performed with ’90s boyband Boyz II Men on a cover of their smash ‘End Of The Road’ and all finalists had performer ‘Good Time’ with visiting US pop star Owl City.
Superstar boyband One Direction performed their latest single ‘Little Things’, though the performance had been pre-recorded specifically for the show.
Samantha’s debut single ‘What You’ve Done To Me’, co-penned by DNA, Bachelor Girl’s Tania Doko and Swedish hit songwriter Jörgen Elofsson, will be rush-released to iTunes and serviced to media shortly.
