(Spoiler alert for those not on the east coast)
Well here ’tis. The top three in this year’s version of ‘The X Factor’ has been decided – and it’s not quite how many expected to play out.
After a knockout performance of Kanye West’s ‘Heartless’ on last night’s show, Samantha Jade sailed through to the grand final. But also making it through uncontested was Mel B’s steed Jason Owen, leaving competition favourites The Collective on the outer, along with Natalie’s Bella Ferraro.
After a sing-off for the final place, the judges cast their votes, with Ronan voting for The Collective, Natalie voting for Bella and Mel also voting for Bella. Guy decided to allow the public to have their say and voted for The Collective, sending the vote to a deadlock. The public vote was the lowest for Bella and as such it was The Collective who was to move through, leaving next week’s grand final as a three way tussle between The Collective, Jason Owen and Samantha Jade.
And though we’d be more than happy to put our money on either The Collective or Samantha Jade, there’s obviously a mass of public voting behind Jason Owen, so essentially anything could happen.
‘The X Factor’ grand final is due to air next Monday and Tuesday nights on the 7 Network.

Sony should sign both The Collective and Samantha Jade. They’re both very marketable singers.

Thanks so much Auspop for the way u set up the article so that us in the west didn’t see who was in the top 3..
Really hoping that Bella gets a record deal and there is more for Angel as well.
My guess would be for the Collective to take the crown with the final everyone will vote again

Out of the four, I would’ve liked Jason to go first as really, he’s the weakest singer. Obviously, people are voting for him – must be the Aussie factor. I can’t see him going international. Eww.
They’ve been pushing for the Collective to win, so they might just.
Samantha’s the best remaining though and she’s so popstar-ready. Her last few performances have been stellar. She’s no longer performing like a contestant, but as a proper star. I hope whatever happens, they give her an album full of great pop songs. No rush jobs please! She has the chops to give Jessica M and Ricki-Lee a run for their money (and I’m a huge fan of both)!

I would be happy with either Samantha Jade or The Collective winning, to me they have been the best and most consistent.
It is a good sign that Samantha Jade has made it to #1 on iTunes with Heartless, as unlike The Voice, people are buying this because they like it rather than as a vote in a competition.
My hope is that the winners song is something fun and upbeat rather than the traditional boring ballad.

Hi,
Just letting you know Samantha Jade sang ‘Heartless’ not ‘Heartache’.
