It’s hard to believe that with brilliant past singles that included ‘How Come You Don’t Call Me’, ‘A Woman’s Work’, ‘Fallin’, ‘No One’ and the stunning ‘If I Ain’t Got You’, that Alicia Keys’ last single ‘Girl On Fire’ is actually her biggest hit here in Australia, notching up a healthy double platinum accreditation.
Her new single ‘Brand New Me’ is now at media here in Australia and its official video (below) premiered less than 24 hours ago. And it’s all kinds of brilliant.
Alicia sings from the heart about being pushed back into her box for far too long, but now she’s ready to stand up for herself, her spirit will no longer be crushed and she’s ready to roar. And doesn’t it show. The performance in the clip is so raw and impassioned that you can feel every word she sings.
One of the reasons we reckon P!nk’s so big here is that Australians know bullshit when they see it. P!nk’s not it; neither’s Alicia. Let’s hope we get on board her ‘Brand New Me’.

Interesting comment about Pink. Main reason why I’ve never liked her – all about her image which is conflicting. She aims to be all genuine and real, and sings about the Britney’s of pop, sending them up in clips etc, then goes and releases poppy songs with sexed up videos targeted for/aimed at the charts. I find her quite hypocritical.
Do love Alicia though! :)
