The original single version of this song was an up-tempo, peppy, bouncy Beyonce-esque pop number, accompanied by a colourful video that afforded Aussie songstress Ricki-Lee the opportunity to show off her slender physique by dancing around sans pants.
But the brilliant decision by some clever clog at the Flinders Street EMI head office to handball the tune over to French house producer Fred Falke for a lick of European disco flair was truly inspired.
The Fred Falke remix of ‘Do It Like That’ bubbled with shining dance/pop synths. It shunned the usually sharp, grating, soulless direction of dance and instead delivered an effortlessly smooth, stylish, slick and polished piece that for us became an instant futurepop classic. Thinking outside the box in this instance paid off big time.
Yes, our No.04 pop single of 2012 is the Fred Falke remix of Ricki-Lee’s ‘Do It Like That’.

Interesting choice! I quite like this remix (I remember it coming out before the premiere of the single mix), it’s very different from the single version.
