Who knew that in 2012, British pop could actually start making inroads onto the Australian charts!?
For years, local radio has been looking predominantly to the United States to determine their playlists, but something shifted this year and they started to look further afield. And after conquering the charts in their homeland with their infectious debut single, Little Mix pointed their compass to the other side of the world and wrapped their ‘Wings’ around us.
We lapped it up, sending the track into the upper echelons of the ARIA singles chart and gifting them platinum success.
It was fresh, fun, feisty, female-empowered pop with fine harmonies, a killer chorus and a message of positivity.
Girl power was back – and we loved it.
Yes, our No.9 Pop Single Of 2012 is Little Mix’ ‘Wings’!
