Looks like Samantha Jade and The Collective aren’t the only ones to have bagged themselves a little deal with the team at Sony Music, with the label confirming that they’ll be releasing ‘The X Factor’ starlet’s single ‘Set Me On Fire’ at the end of next week.
It’s been a busy few weeks for ‘X Factor’ contestants on the charts, firstly with Samantha Jade debuting at No.1, then The Collective and Jason Owen making their respective debuts this week (though in vastly different positions).
You can get a little taste of the single (and it’s altogether stunning) in this behind the scenes clip of the cover photo shoot.
Bella’s also had an official Facebook page set up for her (HERE).
‘Set Me On Fire’ is released next Friday, December 14 and a limited edition CD single will also be available at a limited number of retailer outlets.

I just called Sony & told them I voted for one of the finalists. In return they gave me a recording contract!

Is there a winner, or is Sony just giving out participation awards?

It just cheapens Samantha’s win if everyone else gets a contract straight away

Someone asked what the point of being the winner is if others are signed too. One point would be you DEFINITELY get a deal, whereas anyone who doesn’t win … well, they may or may not get a deal. Do you seriously expect a record company to ignore artists they think might have a real talent? It’s a business.

Fan groups need to stop this ridiculous competing against each other. They seem to be more competitive than the musicians – who really just want to express themselves and get enough fans to make a good career. Grow up, people. There’s no rule that says Sony can only sign one. It’s been happening since the beginning of TV talent shows, when Guy, Shannon Noll, and several others got contracts.

I couldn’t agree more with the posts already here. Wasn’t there some rule that the winner would release their music and then other contestants had to wait a year or something?
This being released is a bit quick if you ask me

I agree it’s not fair and they should wait till 2013 to give Sammi a chance to shine, but just look at the UK X Factor
Olly Murs finished 2nd
1 Direction – 3rd
Cher Lloyd – 4th
Rebecca Ferguson – 2nd
Misha B – 4th
Amelia Lily – 3rd
It’s common practice and I have no issue with it. As I said before they should give the winners more time.

This is stupid. What’s the point in being the winner if they give everyone a recording contract? I’m not even a fan of X Factor or its ‘artists’, but it’s like they’re giving away recording contracts like it’s candy. Can I get one too then?

A lot of the music on the charts are pretty bad I mean that thrift shop thing is not real music it’s just horrible also lots of other songs are horrible I personally think this is stupid that Sony is signing them so early it’s horrible. It’s like Sony is being mean to Samantha.
