Australian singer songwriter Gotye has today been nominated for three Grammy Awards, including the prestigious Record Of The Year category for his international smash ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.
Of the nominations, Gotye said, “I’m not from Western Australia, so a nomination for a WAMI remains a distant dream. But three Grammy nominations are pretty good too. Truly though, it’s an honour to be recognised and nominated amongst so many great musicians.”
In the Record Of The Year category, he faces tough competition from The Black Keys (‘Lonely Boy’), Kelly Clarkson (‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’), Fun. ftg. Janelle Monae (‘We Are Young’) and Frank Ocean (‘Thinkin Bout You’).
Gotye also scores in the categories of Best Duo/Group Performance and Best Alternative Music Album.
Meanwhile, our own Ivan Gough and Feenixpawl get a nod in the category of Best Remixed Recording, Non Classical for their club smash ‘In My Mind’.
From the overseas field, Kelly Clarkson scored nods in four categories, including Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year, while Fun. was the group that really cleaned up, scoring nominations for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album, as well as a nod for Producer Of The Year for Jeff Bhasker.
