Right, so first a confession… We haven’t really gotten into any of the singles lifted thus far from The Presets’ latest album ‘Pacifica’.
But the good news is that we’re really digging their latest single ‘Promises’, which is sunshiney bright, fresh as a daisy – and perhaps just a little bit retro. And that whole retro theme is carried over to the official video (below), which premiered late last week.
Call us old fashioned, but there’s a little bit of a Stock Aitken Waterman vibe going on here – it almost sounds a bit like it could be an undiscovered Rick Astley track in the opening 40 seconds.
Whereas the verses are all beautifully stripped back to just Julian’s vocals and Kim’s production, Kim takes over in the choruses, delivering us a glorious, synth-laden retro-pop experience, resplendent with xylophone, unicorns and good times. Heck, if we delved hard enough, we might even find ourselves a can of Passiona.
