‘X Factor’ starlet Bella Ferraro faces problems on two fronts at the moment. Firstly, her debut single (which, admittedly, is rather beautiful) is failing to find its feet at digital retail. After just two weeks on the charts (No.36 on debut, No.90 last week), it’s now gone entirely from the top 100.
But the second issue is entirely out of her hands and it’s an issue the music industry has had to deal with previously.
Back in early 2003, Robyn’s spectacular single ‘Keep This Fire Burning’ was pulled from radio because of the bushfire situation in Victoria. Her label Zomba subsequently re-named the track ‘By Your Side’ for its Australian release, but with radio still on edge and the fires still burning, the single was smothered and ultimately doomed.
That Bella’s video (below) is set against a bushfire-ravaged landscape when parts of Tasmania and Victoria are in the grip of bushfire emergencies and as parts of New South Wales are placed on high alert today, we can’t help but think that the combination of the song title and the clip will further doom it to failure too.
Which is a shame, really – ’cause we reckon it’s a lovely tune.
