Swedish singer songwriter Darin has come a heck of a long day since being runner-up in the Idol competition in his homeland nine years ago. He’s since released five studio albums in Sweden, all except one of which has hit the No.1 position. And no doubt the team at Universal Music will be hoping that his latest effort, ‘Exit’, will follow the No.1 trend.
The latest single to be lifted from ‘Exit’ is the frothy dance/pop track ‘Playing With Fire’, a teaser for which Darin uploaded to Youtube just yesterday. It’s set to be released in his homeland tomorrow, but there’s little chance of the track making it to our local digital retailers. His last album ‘Lovekiller’, with its killer title track, is one of very few Darin releases that aren’t available on our local iTunes store.

And yet record companies complain about illegal downloading well this is why. There is absolutely no reason, what with iTunes, that record companies cant release to every territory around the globe. Most of my favourite acts (Kate Ryan, Infernal, Agnes, Darin, Helena Paparizou etc.) latest stuff are not available on the local iTunes and will usually can take 2 years or more before you see it. Record companies would make more money releasing it worldwide than not as I would rather purchase my favourite music than obtaining it other ways.
