Well when the Academy calls…
Yes, the 85th Academy Awards has called on Norah Jones to perform her Oscar-nominated song ‘Everybody Needs A Best Friend’ at the ceremony on Sunday February 24. Sadly, the awards night comes on exactly the same date as her forthcoming performance at Perth’s Riverside Theatre, prompting Frontier Touring to alter the date to accommodate her US rendezvous.
“When my friend Seth Macfarlane invited me to perform the theme song from his movie TED at the Academy Awards (which he is hosting), I couldn’t say no,” Norah said in a statement. “I had a great time recording this song with Seth, and was thrilled to learn that the song was nominated for an Oscar. Getting to perform it at such a prestigious event that my friend is hosting is a once in a lifetime opportunity. In order to pull it off, I had to move my upcoming show at the Riverside Theater in Perth. I sincerely hope that everyone coming to the show will understand the rescheduling and still be able to come a little earlier than anticipated. Many apologies for any inconvenience this causes you. I am very excited to come play for you!”
So the Perth date will move to Wednesday February 13, meaning that the singer’s Australian tour will now kick off in the Western Australian capital. All tickets for the original date are valid for the newly scheduled show.
