It’s not often that one gets a second chance in the cut-throat music industry, but when you’re as talented as Mister Tyler James, it’s entirely understandable that he’s been granted one.
Tyler first appeared on the scene with his excellent reggae-infused 2004 single ‘Why Do I Do’ and followed it up swiftly with the brilliant ‘Foolish’ (still one of our favourite ever pop songs). But hitting the public with an ill-advised cover version of White Town’s ‘Your Woman’ as single No.3 proved his undoing, his debut album ‘The Unlikely Lad’ was subsequently given a soft digital-only release and Tyler’s star was all but extinguished.
Wonderfully, however, Tyler (a close friend of the late Amy Winehouse) got a second chance last year when he appeared on the British version of ‘The Voice’, proving to the judges and the public that he’d lost none of that spark of yesteryear.
He released his album ‘A Place I Go’ late in the year, along with the top 30 single ‘Single Tear’. But now he’s moved on to single No.2 from the long player – ‘Worry About You’ – featuring a guest rap from British MC Kano.
The radio-ready single features heavily on Tyler’s impressive falsetto, while the clip features the singer entering a restaurant looking a little worse for wear, but with a bag-load of cash. What’s it for? We’ll let you watch and see.
