British songstress Nerina Pallot’s last album ‘Year Of The Wolf’ was an utter gem. Thoughtful, intelligent pop that wasn’t widely embraced by an Australian media that’s been focussed too much on the current EDM craze.
Lead single ‘Put Your Hands Up’ was offered to Kylie for her last album. She already had a track by the same name slated for inclusion. ‘All Bets Are Off’ was a sublime, stylish, impassioned tale of heartbreak.
So after lapping up the goodness of ‘Year Of The Wolf’, colour us excited that Ms Pallot is about to grace us with more brand new music – an EP called (and this is rather timely) ‘The Lonely Valentines EP’.
Containing six new recordings, the EP will be released digitally in Australia just two days before Valentines Day, so it could be your perfect soundtrack for the evening. But there’s one little tune on it that might have a whiff of familiarity to it. It’s an almost unrecognisable cover of the Ce Ce Peniston dance/pop classic ‘Finally’, which strips away the happy disco beats and replaces them with a relaxed, smokey-lounge feel. Take a listen below.
The ‘Lonely Valentines EP’ is set for release digitally in Australia on Tuesday February 12.

‘Everybody’s Gone To War’ is in my opinion one of the great songs of the past decade, and an equally brilliant video clip too. She is ace!
