And the singer, famous for his 2004 breakout album ‘Twentysomething’, is celebrating the announcement by revealing a new video of a new track – and a free download of it to boot.
‘Love For Sale’ is a delicious, juicy cover version of the Cole Porter classic which sees Jamie teaming up with UK rapper Roots Manuva.
“Roots Manuva is an institution. He’s incredibly musical and between making his own amazing albums he has collaborated with so many varied and brilliant artists,” Jamie says in a statement. “After I ripped off his bassline, I had the audacity to ask him if he wanted to write a verse for the track. Luckily he was up for it. He has a sense of timing and drama that works so well with a live band in this situation, a commanding voice and a presence that could fit alongside Cole Porter. How many people can do that?”
‘Love For Sale’ doesn’t play the role of the lead single from the singer’s forthcoming fifth studio album (not counting his self-released 1999 effort), but more details on both official single and album will be revealed “in the coming weeks”.
