• A number of other new tunes doing the rounds this week include Sinead Burgess’ ‘Rearview Mirror’, Justin Bieber’s ‘All Around The World’, Passion Pit’s ‘Carried Away’ and The Lumineers’ new track ‘Stubborn Love’. • With his new album ‘The Next Day’ due to hit the shops this Friday, David Bowie will have something else to look forward to, with EMI confirming they’re on the verge of releasing a 40th Anniversary edition of his album ‘Aladdin Sane’. Though there seems to be nothing new on the tracklist, the ten track release has been fully remastered and will drop at retail on Friday April 12.
• Rickie Lee Jones’ upcoming Sydney date (this Monday night) at the Enmore Theatre has been moved. The date remains the same, but the show will now take place at the Factory Theatre.
• Lowrider’s forthcoming Sydney date, due to hit Notes in Newtown on April 12, has also been moved… to the Annadale Hotel.
• The Red Hot Summer Tour’s visit to Warrnambool later this month has been cancelled. Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Baby Animals and co were originally due to hit the Victorian regional centre on the Easter long weekend, but due to Jimmy’s special guest spot on Bruce Springsteen’s date at Hanging Rock, the date was moved to March 24. But the move to the new date was outside the peak holiday period and ticket sales suffered.
• Justin Timberlake has slammed the No.1 position on the UK singles chart with his latest single ‘Mirrors’. He improved three spots over last week’s No.4 position to claim the prize over a respectable debut for up and coming outfit Bastille and their new single ‘Pompeii’. One Direction’s ‘One Way Or Another’ (No.1 last week) drops to No.3, with a debut for Wiley down at No.9. P!nk’s single ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ goes top ten.
• Emeli Sandé’s all-conquering album ‘Our Version Of Events’ maintains its heading atop the British albums chart this week with Atoms For Peace’s ‘Amok’ the highest debut at No.5. Michael Ball, Josh Groban and Johnny Marr score a trio of top ten debuts at Nos.8, 9 and 10 respectively.
• On the US singles chart, Baauer’s ‘Harlem Shake’ continues to fire, holding onto its No.1 position for a second successive week. ‘Thrift Shop’ remains at No.2, but Bruno Mars’ new single ‘When I Was Your Man’ is up to No.3. Lil Wayne with Drake is up to No.10 with ‘Love Me’, but One Direction’s ‘One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)’ is in a big hurry, spending its second week in rising from No.45 to No.13.

Universal Music bought EMI last year, but EMI Australia was doing quite well financially – one of very few countries in the world where it was making money.
Though it’s now housed in their head office at Millers Point, Universal has decided to leave EMI pretty much as a stand alone label here in Australia.
