The Eurovision Song Contest is now less than five weeks away and here at auspOp, we’re once again in the midst of our yearly look at the entries who’ll be vying for the European vote.
Yes, the pop-loving eyes of Europe will be firmly affixed on the Swedish city of Malmö, as 39 countries from across the region compete for the most coveted prize in music – the Eurovision Song Contest winner’s trophy.
As always, the competition is split into three finals; the two semi finals (to be held on May 14 and 16) and the grand final (on May 18), in which the victorious countries from the two semi-finals will line up alongside the host nation Sweden and the “big five” of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
In part eight of our look at the Eurovision 2013 entries, we’re setting our sights on Albania…
ADRIAN LULGJURAJ & BLEDAR SEJKO : Identitet
Adrian is no stranger to Albanian audiences, having participated in TV shows like ‘The Voice’ and ‘Top Fest’. Bledar on the other hand has been performing for a number of years with bands and participated in his country’s ‘Festivali i Këngës’ (the Albanian national selection for Eurovision) some 21 years ago. Together they’ll be taking their show on the road to Malmö where they’ll perform ‘Indentitet’ (‘Identity’) at the second semi final.
The track is essentially a radio-friendly rock/pop number that builds towards an impressive electric guitar solo at the end. The clip (below) is set in an under-construction housing development.
While ‘Identitet’ is bound to get the crowd rocking, we’re just not liking Bledar’s vocal on this.
