It’s now less than three weeks ’til the pop-loving eyes of Europe will be focussed on the Swedish city of Malmö for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. And here at auspOp, we’re continuing the count down to Eurovision by taking a look at each of the entries who’ll be vying for the all-important European vote.
Yes, the pop-loving eyes of Europe will be firmly affixed on the Swedish city of Malmö, as 39 countries from across the region compete for the most coveted prize in music – the Eurovision Song Contest winner’s trophy.
As always, the competition is split into three finals; the two semi finals (to be held on May 14 and 16) and the grand final (on May 18), in which the victorious countries from the two semi-finals will line up alongside the host nation Sweden and the “big five” of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
We’re now over the halfway mark in our look at each of this year’s entries – and our compass today points to the Greek entry.
KOZA MOSTRA FTG. AGATHONAS IAKOVIDIS : Alcohol Is Free
We don’t quite know if alcohol is indeed free in Greece, but we suspect it’s probably a damned sight cheaper than it is here in Australia. Nonetheless, this year’s entry from Greece consists of hot up and coming six piece outfit Koza Mostra (who obviously love to go shopping and sightseeing together) along with Greek folk star Agathonas Iakovidis. And what starts out as a rather drab-sounding Greek folk song soon bursts into life with the fervour and excitement we’ve come to expect from the Eurovision Song Contest. Whether they’ve got what it takes to move past the second semi final, only time will tell.
