Can you believe that just four weeks today, the eyes of Europe will be firmly affixed on the Swedish city of Malmö as the votes are tallied and a winner is crowned in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Here at auspOp, we’re continuing to count down to Eurovision by taking a look at each of the entries who’ll be vying for the all-important European vote.
Yes, the pop-loving eyes of Europe will be firmly affixed on the Swedish city of Malmö, as 39 countries from across the region compete for the most coveted prize in music – the Eurovision Song Contest winner’s trophy.
As always, the competition is split into three finals; the two semi finals (to be held on May 14 and 16) and the grand final (on May 18), in which the victorious countries from the two semi-finals will line up alongside the host nation Sweden and the “big five” of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Today we’re swanning over the Mediterranean to see if nothing pleases like Maltesers. Whoops – that’s a chocolate commercial.
GIANLUCA : Tomorrow
23 year old singer Gianluca Bezzina reportedly only entered his nation’s quest to find their 2013 Eurovision entrant for a bit of fun, but after beating 15 other perfomers in the race for selection, it’s he who’ll be headed to Malmö for the second of the semi finals. A qualified doctor, Gianluca will perform the English language single ‘Tomorrow’. He’s a curious performer too… Olly Murs’ sense of style, combined with a dusty, sultry vocal and a song that sounds like it might have been ripped from the Jason Mraz catalogue. Cute clip.
