There are just two weeks remaining ’til the kick-off of the Eurovision Song Contest for 2013. The contestants are locked in, SBS’ local broadcasts are indeed ‘go’ and we’re continuing our countdown of this year’s competitors.
Entrants from 39 countries across the continent will take to the stage throughout the competition in the hope of taking out the most coveted yearly prize in music – the Eurovision Song Contest trophy.
As always, the competition is split into three finals; the two semi finals (to be held on May 14 and 16) and the grand final (on May 18), in which the victorious countries from the two semi-finals will line up alongside the host nation Sweden and the “big five” of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Today we’re heading to Montenegro to take a look at what they’re serving up for semi final No.1.
WHO SEE FTG. NINA ŽIŽIC : Igranka
If the view count for Who See’s clip is anything to go by, they’re surely in with a chance to take out this year’s competition. In just six weeks, it’s notched up an impressive 1.1 million views… not bad for a track that’s performed in Montenegrin. Sadly, however, ‘Igranka’ doesn’t seem to be the bookies’ favourite.
It’s not a bad track though, with the boys of hip hop outfit Who See leading the vocals across edgy dance/pop production (it sounds a bit like a ‘now’ MC Sar & The Real McCoy), while songstress Nina Žižić contributes a selection of vocals in the chorus. Sure to get the crowd on its feet, but will it make it past the first semi final?
