Boutique Aussie label Cooking Vinyl will release British singer songwriter Alison Moyet’s new album ‘the minutes’ (all lower care) in Australia next month.
It’s Alison’s first album of new material in six long years and she says the creation of it was her happiest ever experience in the studio – a big claim after an impressive career that has spanned more than 30 years.
“I avoided listening to anything during the process of writing and recording this album, choosing instead to be lead by my own melodic voice, the one I now find myself with 30-years-in”, she says in a statement.
“Guy Sigsworth returns me to a programmer’s world and marries it with perfect musicality. I have been waiting for him. We have made an album mindless of industry mores that apply to middle-aged women and have shunned all talk of audiences, demographics and advert jazz covers. This has easily been my happiest studio experience.”
The new LP has been preceded by the release of gorgeous lead single ‘When I Was Your Girl’, which is available on our local iTunes store now.
Co-written and produced by Guy Sigsworth (Madonna’s ‘What It Feels Like For A Girl’), ‘the minutes’ will arrive at Australian retailers on Friday May 10.
