Fans of Australian soul legend Renee Geyer are in for a treat, with EMI revealing that she’ll release a brand new album later this month.
The new LP, entitled ‘Swing’ (cover pictured above), will feature Renee’s soulful take on a selection of classic jazz standards including ‘Fly Me To The Moon’, ‘My Funny Valentine’ and ‘I Got Rhythm’ and reworked versions of her own smash hits ‘Say I Love You’ and ‘It’s A Man’s World’, as well as a cover of the Burt Bacharach classic ‘Alfie’.
Highlight single, the often covered ‘Baby, Please Don’t Go’, was officially serviced to media earlier today, once again showcasing that extraordinarily emotive vocal that earlier today was voted by Renee’s peers as one of the greatest ever to come out of this country (HERE).
And while we’re certainly not ones to argue, we’d have preferred her to have been a little higher than No.7.
‘Swing’ will hit retail on Friday April 19.

Listening to Renee – “What a wonderful world” – enhanced by this album. Could almost turn… nearly. Renee’s interpretations are sensational, unique, raw, enticing and like honey.

I heard “I got rhythm ” on QLD ABC radio …. Oh my god!!!!! It is one of the greatest versions I have ever heard. Her voice is so loose and raw….. I suspect this album is going to blow people minds!!!!
