It’s almost as if we’ve planned this Countdown To Eurovision series again this year… This is the last of our looks at this year’s entrants, with the competition set to kick off in Malmö tomorrow night with the first of the two semi finals.
From there, it’ll be onto semi final No.2 on Thursday night, with the grand final hitting this Saturday night.
SBS will once again broadcast all three finals, with the first semi on Friday night, the second on Saturday night and the Grand Final on Sunday night.
39 countries from across the continent will descend on Sweden tomorrow for the first of the semis to battle it out for a place in the Grand Final this Saturday, where they’ll meet up with the host nation and the “big five” of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain in the hope of Eurovision glory.
So here we are with the final country – and it’s no accident that we’ve left the Danish entry ’til last.
EMMELIE DE FOREST : Only Teardrops
She might be just a baby, but 20 year old Emmelie is about to feel the weight of Denmark upon her shoulders as the country’s official Eurovision entrant for 2013. Not that she should be feeling too much pressure, however, because a) her single ‘Only Teardrops’ is already a big hit in her homeland and b) it’s been odds-on favourite to win the competition right throughout the lead-up to this year’s event. It’s easy to understand why… A catchy chorus, a familiar Eurovision-esque sound, a sweet, soft European-tinged vocal and a little whistle may all prove the winning combination come Saturday. Either way, Denmark will sail through the semis.
