It’s getting so close now you can almost taste it, with less than two weeks ’til Eurovision 2013 kicks off – and just two weeks today ’til the second semi final hits. Here at auspOp, we’re bringing you a look at each and every one of this year’s entries in our yearly Countdown To Eurovision.
Yes, in less than two weeks, the pop-loving eyes of Europe will be firmly affixed on the Swedish city of Malmö, as 39 countries from across the region compete for the most coveted prize in music – the Eurovision Song Contest winner’s trophy.
As always, the competition is split into three finals; the two semi finals (to be held on May 14 and 16) and the grand final (on May 18), in which the victorious countries from the two semi-finals will line up alongside the host nation Sweden and the “big five” of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Can you believe we’re already up to part 28 in our series? We’re off to the Eastern European country of Georgia to find out what they’re serving up.
NODI TATISHVILI & SOPHO GELOVANI : Waterfall
Georgia’s entry for Eurovision 2013 consists of duo Nodi (the 2009 winner of his country’s ‘Pop Idol’ competition) and Sopho (the 2010 runner-up in the same competition). Both had extensive performance experience prior to the ‘GeoStar’ competition and bring a wealth of talent to the stage for their shot at Eurovision glory.
They’re a good looking couple and the song is a dramatic English language ballad that suits them down to the ground vocally. Mix in an explosive key change and you’ve got a track that sounds the goods. It’s amongst the top ten favourites in this year’s competition and ‘Waterfall’ should see Nodi and Sopho sail straight through to the grand final on May 18.
