There are less than two weeks remaining ’til the kick-off of the Eurovision Song Contest for 2013. The contestants are locked in, SBS’ local broadcasts are indeed ‘go’ and we’re continuing our countdown of this year’s competitors.
Entrants from 39 countries across the continent will take to the stage throughout the competition in the hope of taking out the most coveted yearly prize in music – the Eurovision Song Contest trophy.
As always, the competition is split into three finals; the two semi finals (to be held on May 14 and 16) and the grand final (on May 18), in which the victorious countries from the two semi-finals will line up alongside the host nation Sweden and the “big five” of the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
And speaking of Spain, we’re going to have a look at their entry today, in the 29th of of Countdown To Eurovision series for 2013.
EL SUEÑO DE MORFEO : Contigo Hasta El Final
Spanish trio El Sueño De Morfeo are no strangers to success in their homeland, notching up a succession of top five albums on the local charts, as well as top 40 singles triumphs across the past eight years. Chosen to represent their country at Eurovision 2013, they’ll head to Malmö armed with the single ‘Contigo Hasta El Final’ (which translates to ‘With You Until The End’).
It’s a sweet enough track, with some rather lovely vocals, but there’s nothing jumping out at us screaming “Eurovision winner”. They’re certainly rank outsiders to take out the final, with a British £1 bet on Spain set to rake in £101 if they win.
