• Local dancefloor dynamo Sam La More has roped in the services of British singer songwriter Gary Go for his new single ‘Adrenaline’. Currently “in Los Angeles writing and producing the upcoming PNAU album”, Sam’s star has been glistening over recent years through his involvement in the Tonite Only project (alongside Groove Terminator) and remixing and producing for some of our nation’s finest. ‘Adrenaline’ is due for release digitally this Friday.
• British outfit Foals have now sold out both their Sydney and Melbourne dates as part of their September tour. But we’re hearing rumour that extra dates in both cities might (just might) be forthcoming. Tickets to the band’s Brisbane show at The Tivoli on October 02 are now also in super-short supply.
• Irish folk outfit Villagers are returning to our shores later in the year. Armed with a swathe of new material (courtesy of their new album ‘{Awayland}’, the band will play Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, Sydney’s Factory Theatre and Fremantle’s Fly By Night on July 30, August 01 and August 02 respectively. Tickets for all are on sale now.
• And while his former co-hort Redfoo prepares to take up his position on the judging panel of ‘The X Factor’, LMFAO’s Sky Blu is pushing ahead with his solo career, revealing his new single ‘Salud’. The new Latin single features vocals by Sensato, That 70’s Show’s Wilmer Valderrama and Reek Rude. You can wrap your listening gear around it right HERE.
• P!nk’s single ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ with Nate Ruess continues to dominate the US singles chart this week, holding Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ ‘Can’t Hold Us’ to the No.2 spot (they have two entries inside the Billboard top ten. But Rihanna’s up three spots to No.3 with ‘Stay’, JT’s also got two top ten entries – and Icona Pop and Imagine Dragons both enter the top ten with their respective singles. Psy’s new single ‘Gentleman’ plummets, however. It was No.5 last week, but finds itself down at No.26 this time ’round.
• Looks like the US loves Bubés too! Michael Bublé’s album ‘To Be Loved’ has premiered atop this week’s Billboard albums chart, bagging 195,000 sales in its first week in the shops. Former ‘Idol’ winner Fantasia premieres strongly in the No.2 position with ‘Side Effects Of You’, with Phoenix’ ‘Bankrupt’ debuting at No.4. Rob Zombie’s ‘Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor’ is in at No.7 and Will.I.Am would no doubt have been hoping for a stronger debut than No.9 for his LP ‘#WillPower’.
