Not one to keep her Aussie fans waiting too long between tours these days, ’80s pop icon Cyndi Lauper will return to Australia later this year for the ‘She’s So Unusual’ tour.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of her celebrated debut album, which contained the hit singles ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’, ‘She Bop’, ‘All Through The Night’ and ‘Time After Time’, Cyndi will touch down in Australia from late August, performing the smash album in its entirety.
“It’s been such an amazing year for me,” she said in a statement. “When I realized it’s also the anniversary of the album that started my solo career, I knew it was the perfect time to thank my fans for sticking with me through it all. I’m so excited to perform ‘She’s So Unusual’ from beginning to end, song by song and I can’t wait to see everyone!”
The announcement comes just hours after her musical ‘Kinky Boots’ was nominated for an unrivalled (and impressive) 13 Tony Awards including ‘Best Musical’ and ‘Best Original Score’.
The tour kicks off in Melbourne on August 29 before hitting most of the other major capitals. Only Perth and Darwin seemingly miss out.
Pre-sale tickets are on sale from Monday, with general public tickets on sale from 9am on Thursday May 09.
