Our eagle-eyed long-memoried readers may remember the name Ed Drewett from a Free Track Friday post back in April, when we featured the British singer/songwriter’s track ‘Passing Note’.
His songwriting prowess has already seen him hit the big time here in Australia too – penning ‘All Time Low’ and ‘Glad You Came’ for UK boyband The Wanted and contributing current single ‘Dear Darlin’ to Olly Murs’ top 20 album ‘Right Place Right Time’.
Ed’s new single ‘Undefeated’ stems from his never giving up on his dreams, no matter how many times they may have seemingly been snatched away by his previous two record labels.
“During my time on the labels I saw 8 A&R guys get fired, and, with each firing comes a new regime and the need to build new relationships. It was making me miserable, and I’m not normally like that,” he recalls. “I definitely had a time when I thought ‘is it worth it?’. But throughout it all I had people (like Professor Green for example) give me advice and I always believed it would happen, no matter how low I got.”
It’s a fresh, up-tempo pop number, with a clip that sees the singer venturing boldly where no UK popstar has gone before him (except, perhaps for Mark Owen)… No, not Germany… Space!
