• Brisbane outfit The Trouble With Templeton have revealed they’ll release a new album in August. It’s called ‘Rookie’ and frontman Thomas Calder is excited to finally be able to share its contents with their fans. “The album is a result of months of hard work and an unrelenting dedication to only making music we love and believe in,” he said in a statement. ‘Rookie’ is due for release on Friday August 02.
• As mentioned overnight, Something For Kate did indeed hit the Victorian regional centre of Bendigo today for one of Channel [V]’s Guerilla Gigs (pictured). With 300 people in attendance, the band played tracks from their latest album ‘Leave Your Soul To Science’, along with fan favourite ‘Déjà Vu’. More Guerilla Gigs are planned in the months ahead.
• Nine Inch Nails has inked a new deal with Polydor Records and have celebrated the signing by revealing they’ll release a new album in late August. ‘Hesitation Marks’ is the band’s first LP in five years and is already available for pre-order, with lead single ‘Came Back Haunted’ out now. ‘Hesitation Marks’ will drop in Australia on Friday August 30.
• US rapper Yelawolf will play headline shows in both Sydney and Melbourne early next month. The performer, real name Michael Wayne Atha, is in the country to support Bliss N Eso on their national tour, but will hit the stage for headline engagements at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on July 08 and Sydney’s Metro Theatre on July 09. Tickets for both shows are on sale from 9am Monday.• US star Robin Thicke is going nowhere on this week’s UK singles chart, with his smash ‘Blurred Lines’ holding in the No.1 spot for the second successive week. The entire top four remains unchanged, with Olly Murs’ ‘Dear Darlin’ moving into the No.5 position. The highest debut of the week comes courtesy of UK boyband Union J, whose debut ‘Carry You’ premieres at No.6.
• Disclosure hold the top spot on the British albums chart, with their new long player ‘Settle’ debuting in the top spot. Queens Of The Stone Age’s ‘Like Clockwork’ came in right behind them, with Miles Kane’s ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are’ premiering at No.8.
