You might recognise the fresh-faced star (left) from last year’s season of ‘The X Factor’.
19 year old Brisbane boy Adil Memon won his way through to the live shows, but was eliminated in the first rounds, when the judges opted to put through Samantha Jade (who eventually won the competition).
Not disheartened by the experience, Adil went on to release his independent debut single ‘Love I Can Afford’ earlier this year, making it into the iTunes top 30. But it’s his new tune – released through Social Family Records – that’s currently creating the buzz.
To be released next month, ‘Official’ was co-written by one of Adil’s favourite singers, Newton Faulkner – a man who’s no stranger to Australian chart success.
“Newton Faulkner is one of my biggest influences, I was speechless when I first heard the song as he’s been an idol of mine since ‘Dream Catch Me’,” Adil said of the track. “He’s the main reason I changed from playing electric guitar to acoustic.”
‘Official’ is a pretty impressive track. Gorgeous acoustic guitars and Adil’s breathy vocals in the verses give way to a rousing chorus that will (hopefully) ensure some decent radio play.
‘Official’ will be released on Friday August 16.
