Given ‘Ooh La La’ is lifted from the soundtrack to a film, we really can’t call this a new Britney Spears single can we? Or can we? If we can, video-wise we don’t quite know when Britney made the leap from being a slightly edgy pop commodity to a children’s entertainer armed with a bucketful of cheesy smiles and painfully obvious dance moves (i.e. “flashing in your eye”, “my heart beats fast”). At some points throughout this, Brit shows more enthusiasm in two seconds than she did in an entire season of ‘The X Factor’. That said, her two sons Jayden and Sean are on hand, so there’s good reason to be ‘up’.
If we can’t call it a new Britney Spears single, then we’ll just say that ‘Ooh La La’ is a fun, frothy, catchy little pop number written with kids in mind that’s designed to keep punters in a happy mood as they shuffle through the litter of popcorn and chip packets to the theatre exit.
