Most of Australia might not yet have heard of US pop songstress Bonnie McKee, but she’s already topped the charts here.
You might not have seen her face, but her singles have notched up millions of sales an innumerable charts successes globally.
But this is Bonnie McKee front and centre as the pop star in her own right on her own single, instead of lazily co-penning mammoth pop songs (‘Roar’, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘California Gurls’, ‘Last Friday Night’, ‘Part Of Me’ etc for Katy Perry, ‘Ooh La La’, ‘Hold It Against Me’ for Britney, ‘C’Mon’ for Ke$ha, plus others for Adam Lambert, Nicole Scherzinger, Leona Lewis, Carly Rae Jepsen and Ellie Goulding).
So as you’d expect with such an extensive pop pedigree, ‘American Girl’ is an incredibly assured pop song that ought to take it right up to the likes of Katy Perry and Ke$ha. And with more than 1.7 million views on the all-American clip, this is one star that’s only going to get brighter from here.
The single is now at Aussie radio, following on from its retail release a couple of weeks back.
