Up and coming British singer Conor Maynard might not have quite had the big hit he’s no doubt hoping for here in Australia just yet (his best effort thus far is a No.38 placing for last year’s ‘Can’t Say No’), but back in his homeland he’s on a roll, with each of his four single releases thus far cracking the UK top ten.
His debut album ‘Contrast’ achieved similar success there, hitting No.1 on its release just over a year ago.
Now it’s time for the next chapter, with the forthcoming release of his new single ‘R U Crazy’, the first single to be lifted from his forthcoming (as yet untitled) sophomore album. And it’s like two songs for the price of one.
It starts out with Conor rocking our a Michael Bublé-esque vibe, all cool jazz tones, double basses and smooth vocals. But a smidge over 40 seconds in, the real track kicks in – and it’s an electronic break-beat style beast which is a bit Justin Timberlake, a bit hip hop and (lyrically) contains a little nod to Ms Nicole Scherzinger’s ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’. It’s out here on October 04.
