• He slammed the ARIA No.1 spot earlier this year with his international smash ‘Harlem Shake’ and now Baauer is back with new single ‘Higher’ alongside R&B producer Just Blaze and none other than Jay Z, who provides vocals. It’s one of a number of new tunes out and about at media this week.
• Also on stations’ radars are Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’, London Grammar’s ‘Wasting My Young Years’ and Havana Brown’s ‘Flashing Lights’. A list of the tunes out at media this week will hit our FACEBOOK page tomorrow.
• British songstress Dido has announced the November release of her ‘Greatest Hits’ album. To feature a selection of her hits from across the years including the inimitable ‘Thankyou’, ‘White Flag’, ‘Life For Rent’ and the timeless ‘Here With Me’, there’s no official tracklist at this stage, nor an Aussie release date, but we’re expecting it to drop here on November 22.
• Danish producer Trentemøller is giving the music-loving world another reason to anticipate his forthcoming album ‘Lost’, readying the release of the second single from it ‘Candy Tongue’, featuring the vocals of Danish songstress Marie Fisker. A “beautiful” new video is incoming soon, with the single due at digital retailers on Monday September 09. The album ‘Lost’ is set to follow on Friday September 27.
• Eminem is back, with a brand new single (‘Berzerk’, available now), the first to be lifted from his forthcoming album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, which has been executive producer by Dr Dre and Rick Rubin. Further details about the new LP are due in the months ahead, but it’s slated for a global release on Tuesday November 05.
• Sydney band Papa vs Pretty will release their new album in February next year. To be called ‘White Deer Park’, it will be preceded by lead single ‘My Life Is Yours’, which will drop digitally on Friday September 13. And to celebrate the launch of the new tune, they’re performing two single launch shows – at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on September 25 and at Melbourne’s Howler on September 26. Tickets are on sale now.
• Brisbane band Sheppard have released the second single from their self-titled EP. ‘Hold My Tongue’ is the follow-up to the band’s platinum-selling hit ‘Let Me Down Easy’, which sent the EP soaring into the ARIA top 20. Check out the official video HERE.
• The Soundwave Festival is back in 2014, bringing some of the world’s hottest rock outfits to Australia with it, including Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Alice In Chains, Placebo and Korn. Tickets for all five events (Feb 22 Brisbane/Feb 23 Sydney/Mar 01 Melbourne/Mar 02 Adelaide/Mar 04 Perth) are on sale on Thursday September 05.
• US outfit The National will return to Australia in February next year for a national tour. They’ll play the five major cities, kicking off at Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre on Thursday February 06. Tickets for their Sydney show are on sale this Friday, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide are on sale on Tuesday September 03 and the Perth show (part of the Perth Festival) will go on sale on Tuesday November 12.
• Ellie Goulding holds in the UK No.1 position for the second week in a row with her first No.1 single ‘Burn’. Klangkarussell, yes Klangkarussell is the highest debut of the week – at No.3 – with ‘Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine)’, with the new DJ Fresh single ‘Earthquake’ shaking things up with a No.4 debut. Sean Paul’s ‘Other Side Of Love’ and the new Naughty Boy/Emeli Sandé collaboration ‘Lifted’ complete the top ten debuts at Nos.7 and 8 respectively. The fab new Matt Cardle/Melanie C single ‘Loving You’ debuts at a respectable No.14.
• And it’s a 2013 chart record for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ siblings Richard and Adam, who are at No.1 heading on the British albums chart for a fourth consecutive week – the first time any artist has achieved the feat this year (the ‘Les Miserables’ soundtrack did it in the UK earlier in 2013. Travis might not be a household name in Australia anymore, but their latest album ‘Where You Stand’ has debuted at No.3 this week, ahead of John Mayer’s ‘Paradise Valley’ (No.4).
