Singer songwriter Jason Singh has worn a number of hats throughout his career; lead vocalist of late ’90s pop/rock group Taxiride, a club chart favourite in more recent times via tracks like ‘The World As You Know It’ and ‘One World’.
The last time we caught up with his career on the pages of auspOp was via his 2010 single ‘I Can Dream’, which recalled some of the sonic stylings of Empire Of The Sun’s breakout record. It was produced by Charles Fisher, who famously helped Savage Garden craft their sound and take them to global stardom.
Charles is back on board in the production role for Jason’s new project, the first for his new label Ambition Records.
“I first met Charles in a café in LA. We had a fantastic discussion about song writing and music generally,” Jason says. “Fast forward a couple of years, I’m preparing songs for my own album and heard that Charles had relocated from LA to Melbourne. I made contact and visited him at his home studio to play him the songs I had been working on. Upon hearing the demos I’d recorded, Charles expressed a keen interest in producing the album. We immediately clicked as a creative team.”
Lead single ‘Hold On Forever’, to be serviced to media next week, is an polished uptempo combination of rock and pop that ought to find a home on a variety of radio network playlists. It’s set for release on Friday August 16, with the full-length album ‘Humannequin’ (cover below) to follow on Friday September 20.
