Throughout the late ’90s and early noughties, British boyband Five (stylistically 5ive) were untouchable.
Though they never quite bagged a No.1 single here in Australia (as they did three times in their homeland), Scott, Ritchie, Abs, J and Sean came bloody close, hitting No.2 with their brilliant second single ‘When The Lights Go Out’ and again with their funk-filled 1999 single ‘If Ya Gettin’ Down’.
But they also spent time in the Aussie top ten with pop gems like ‘Keep On Movin’, ‘Got The Feelin’, ‘Let’s Dance’, their cover of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Until The Time Is Through’.
Last year the band re-united for the successful ITV series ‘The Big Reunion’, where they joined the likes of Atomic Kitten, Liberty X, The Honeyz and 911 in sorting out their differences and forging a new beginning in their career, including a sold out UK arena tour.
So excitement much? Five will bring their ‘Big Reunion’ show down under later this year, armed with all the hits that we fell in love with them for. Yes, it’s going to be like 1999 all over again.
Five, who are now four, will play shows in all five of our major centres, kicking off with a gig at Metropolis in Fremantle on Wednesday October 30.
Who’s gots the funk? They gots da funk – right! And everybody wanna boogie down tonight!
Tickets for all shows are on sale this Friday, with pre-sales from Wednesday.
