Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe Award-winning songstress Irene Cara will tour Australia’s East Coast in November.
It’s the first time the US-based ’80s pop legend has toured Australia, but she’ll stick solely to the East Coast, kicking off with a show at The Palms At Crown in Melbourne before visiting the Gold Coast, Caloundra and three suburban centres in Sydney.
Irene hit the big time with her breakout hit ‘Fame’ in 1980. It hit the No.1 spot over in the UK and was a top five hit in her native America and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Song. But even bigger success was to follow with her 1983 classic ‘Flashdance… What A Feeling’, which hit No.1 Stateside and top five in the UK. It went on to win a quartet of accolades; Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe and American Music Awards.
Joining Irene on her tour will be her own seven piece band Hot Caramel, playing all the hits that made her famous including the aforementioned smashes, along with ‘Out Here On My Own’, ‘Why Me’ and others.
Tickets for all shows are on sale on Friday August 16.
