When young Melbourne starlet Anita Lester decided to embark on her music career, she decided she needed a name that would not only infuse a little of her own personality, but a whole lot of character. She came up with Lester The Fierce which, she says on her Facebook page, is a “combination of her name and her alter ego imagined from a children’s book hero”. We shall herein call her ‘Ms Fierce’.
Ms Fierce will soon release her new self-titled EP (cover art pictured) from which she’s delivered this stirring, dramatic, pretty impressive single called ‘Howl’.
She says that the song is “about my family and the boy I love. It’s about the frustration you sometimes feel at the people closest to you” and it, along with the rest of the EP was recorded over just five days at a studio in her hometown.
Catch Ms Fierce supporting Ngaiire on her national tour, kicking off next Thursday (September 12) at the Oxford Art Factory.
