It seems like these Free Track Friday posts are getting few and far between of late, but fear not, we’ve (in the words of Whitney) been saving all our love for you… And we’re back after a slightly quieter day on the site with a bundle of new tunes that are yours for the taking simply by one (perhaps two) little clicks.
So as we always say, downloading fingers at the ready…
• CHARLES MURDOCH : Dekire
Alright, so don’t let Charles’ last name put you off, because unlike the ‘other’ famous Murdoch, this one’s got a product we’re more than willing to pay attention to (get us going all political!). Yes, Brisbane native Charles’ single ‘Dekire’ has been given a lick of paint by recently-signed-to-Future Classic Welsh duo Bodhi and the results are altogether spectacular. This is the kind of tune you’d expect to hear pumping through the speakers of an uber-groovy nightclub, providing the stylish soundtrack for your cocktail sipping. Sublime. Free. HERE.
• BASECAMP : Emmanuel
They describe their sound as R&B meets electro, but we’d describe it as incredibly polished and utterly addictive. Ladies and gentlemen, introduce yourselves to the delights of Nashville trio Basecamp, who recently released their debut self-titled EP. The release features four utterly sublime pieces of pop helmed by an impossibly gorgeous, caramel vocal. You’d best get onto these guys. Amazing. Download the single HERE and perhaps do yourself a favour and check out the entire EP on the iTunes store HERE.
• ROSIE CATALANO FTG. JACK CARTY : Hearts
Sydney-based singer songwriter Rosie Catalano has left us breathless with this gorgeous freebie. ‘Hearts’ is the title track from her soon to be released EP and if this track’s anything to go by, we’re in for a real treat. Featuring the guest vocals of Jack Varty, ‘Hearts’ is Aussie indie-pop at its finest and most assured. It began its life as a ‘thankyou’ to a fan who showed their financial support via a Pledge campaign back in 2010. We owe that person a debt of gratitude, because ‘Hearts’ is sublime. Grab it free while you can right HERE.
• LEA MARIE : Here To Win
The more eagle-eyed of our readers might find US songstress Lea Marie more than a little familiar. See, she participated on a past season of the evergreen ratings hit ‘American Idol’ – in the very same year as Masters Allen and Lambert were on the show. In the past four years, however, Lea has been at work on her independent pop career, garnering praise from a number of top producers and just last week released her brand new single ‘Here To Win’. It’s a sweet mid-tempo pop number with a never-say-die lyrical attitude and you can bag it for nix right HERE.
• THE LITTLE STEVIES : Diamonds For Your Tea
Melbourne folk/pop siblings The Little Stevies (that’d be sisters Sibylla & Beth Stephen) are on the precipice of releasing their brand new album ‘Diamonds For Your Tea’. Created in collaboration with their growing fandom through a Pozible campaign, the duo have left their followers waiting two long years for the new material. We’ll forgive them, however, because “motherhood, full-time study and part-time work between them” has kept them occupied away from the studio. Released independently on Thursday October 03, the album’s first taste is the title track – and it’s available free right HERE.
• KRIS ANGELIS : Rhyme Nor Reason
This is a sweet little piece of country folk pop from Los Angeles-based songstress Kris Angelis, who we’ve featured previously on the site in a Free Track Friday post – and whose debut album ‘The Left Atrium’ dropped at retail globally back in late July. The plucky sub three minute tune, which lyrically deals with that “floating-on-air feeling of falling in love” is as bright as a ray of summer sun. And with rain predicted across much of the country over the weekend, it certainly couldn’t have made it to the halls of Free Track Friday at a better time. Download free HERE.
And that’s your lot for this edition. We’re so going to try to get these Free Track Fridays a little more regular again. In the meantime, however, enjoy your freebies, enjoy your weekend.
