Ginger Spice and ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ judge Geri Halliwell has inked a contract with Sony Music Australia to release her brand new solo single ‘Half Of Me’.
No stranger to solo success via her singles ‘Look At Me’, ‘Mi Chico Latino’ and ‘Lift Me Up’ (among many others), Geri’s new single has been co-written and produced by the boys from Sydney duo DNA, who’ve previously worked with the likes of Ricky Martin, Tina Arena, Samantha Jade, Johnny Ruffo, The Collective and many more.
“Hooray, finally I get to share my music! I’m really excited to sign with Sony,” the singer enthuses in a statement. “My new song ‘Half of Me’ is about love, hope and optimism with a splash of humour (check out verse 2). I’ve been so welcomed by the Aussies – it’s fantastic I wrote my new song there! Thank you for all your support.”
Australians will get their first taste of ‘Half Of Me’ as part of the Grand Final special of ‘The Footy Show’, airing on the Nine Network from 8:30pm on October 03 – the same date the single will be made available for pre-order.
‘Half Of Me’ will be released on Friday October 25.

Exciting!!! I love Geri!!!
Greets from Poland!!!
And be nicer for her – she is giving of her as more as she can. She can sing and do great hit. It wouldn’t be because Sony Music is very proffesional and wouldn’t choose any crap. ;)
Waiting!!!

On the flipside, Jason Derulo’s ‘Talk Dirty’ was available for pre-order a while before release date and that led to it rocketing to #1 day of release.
If there is enough hype, pre-orders are beneficial, imo.

Not loving how our labels are beginning to slow up releases ala the UK. It used to be as soon as a song was heard we were usually able to get it off iTunes within a few days at the most. I’ve noticed recently that we are waiting longer. Take Avril’s Rock n Roll for instance. I’m not sure exactly how long that took from first premier to digital release but I know it was a while. I checked iTunes for it a couple of times but it was not on. I ended up getting it free online.

No surprise on a single release, but releasing it a month after performing it isn’t gonna help it chart wise. It will flop IMO. She’s smarter to release it the day of the performance
