There are very few artists who’ve been able to come from a successful pop band and carve out a sustained solo career in the past couple of decades. Justin Timberlake, yes. Beyoncé, most definitely. And from Take That, Robbie Williams.
Rob’s bandmate Mark Owen has also achieved commercial success, albeit on a significantly lesser scale than Mister Williams. And though his latest album ‘The Art Of Doing Nothing’ became the highest charting in his career on its release earlier this year (No.29), the first single from it (‘Stars’) failed to ignite, peaking outside the British top 100.
Mark’s hoping to change those fortunes around with ‘Carnival’, the second single lifted from his latest album.
Credit where it’s due, it’s an entirely listenable song which bubbles along beautifully. It’s accompanied by a rather watchable clip, in which our leading pint-sized pop star embarks on a four minute journey of interpretive dance.
