British popstress Ellie Goulding has all her bases covered with her new single ‘How Long Will I Love You’. Not only does the track serve as the second single from the repackaged edition of her most recent album, it also features on the soundtrack of the new Richard Curtis film ‘About Time’ and it’s been chosen as the official single for BBC’s ‘Children In Need’ for 2013. Not only that, but according to the clip itself, it’s also lifted from a forthcoming short film called ‘Tom & Issy’ in which Ellie stars. ‘How Long Will I Love You’ is a cover version of The Waterboys’ single from 1990. So she’s going for maximum impact.
The clip features what are presumably a few scenes from said short film (aah the pitfalls of owning a convertible), intercut with black and white images of Ellie playing the song in front of a light curtain. It’s short, yes, at less than two and a half minutes, but it’s also incredibly sweet.
